[11/13/00] ... MondaY

another weekend wasted away on the follies of life...but what fun follies they be. anyway. i'm sick of the "punk" scene. i do my part. i put up flyers. i spread the word. then when the actual show rolls around, i skip the show. something is wrong with me. i guess i'm avoiding my "peers." i just feel like it's more about being seen than seeing now at shows. in the meantime, i've got my cds so i can get my music fix.

it's getting cold out. that means the snow is prepping itself to fall delicately upon our undeserving little meat heads. snow is good. snow is great. summer's something i could learn to hate.

Voyeurism at its best...and how long has this technology existed??? i'm scared. are you?

so how are things? alright on my end. i guess. in the process of scheduling classes for next semester now. i saw sunny day real estate on sunday. they were a pleasure to listen usually, especially with the three song encore at the end: “the ocean,” “the rising tide,” then finishing up with an extra long version of “the prophet.”

StileProject. Blunt. You've been warned.

they played most of the songs off of “the rising tide,” but mixed in some stuff from previous albums also. stuff played off the newest album: “killed by an angel,” “one,” and “faces in disguise.” they played the heavily requested “48” and my all time favorite sdre tune, “every shining time you arrive.” if that song ain’t emo, i don’t know what is.

Am I Hot? Submit a pic. You know you want to.

of course, all this is according to my memory which has suffered substantially from the ingestion of various alcoholic beverages over the course of a year. so if you beg to differ about the terms of the set list, you’re probably right. jeremy enigk was surprisingly vocal. at least more vocal than he was at the last show. the last time i got to see them, the bearded guitar player did the honors. funny guy. on sunday, he said, “thanks for liking to listen to our songs.” something close to that at least...cool, down-to-earth guy.

*landslide* by the almost now defunct smashing pumpkins is such a beautiful song.

sunday nite, there were at least six people on stage at times. ooo...the drummer’s hot. =) however, i regret not catching euphone, the opening band. being a college student, i had an econ 300 exam the next weekend and simply could not make the sacrifice to listen to the opening band. the time on the ticket was 8 pm. euphone went on at 9:15 pm. sdre went on at 11:05 pm. lame excuse, i know, i know. oo. one weird thing. neither of the bands were selling merch. isn’t this how they make most of their moola? i dunno. i was hoping to get my hands on one of those mythical sdre pins to proclaim my emo-city.

Fuck the world up.

by the way, i'm supposed to be studying for my accountacy 201 exam that is looming in the future...tomorrow nite to be exact. and i'm not studying right now!!!! bwahahahaha. that's not funny. nope. it isn't. fuck.
