Aero Hobbies Sunday Fun
Day Helicopter Fun Fly 1998
Last Sunday
May 7th 1998, Bruce, Lee, Weldon, and I attended Aero Hobbies first
helicopter fun fly in Denton, TX. For their first fun fly they
had a great turn out of about 40 pilots! They had some nice
raffle items to. The best of which was the NHP/CSM simulator.
Guess who won it? Lucky Lee!!
! He must
have been destined for helicopters. It was only a couple of
weeks ago that he decided to try helicopters and got a really
good used helicopter from Bruce for an exceptional price. Then
after practicing on my simulator, he flew for the first time and
did exceptionally well. On that first tank, he was already at the
stage it would normally take a gallon of gas to get to! Then at
his first helicopter fun-fly, he won the $170 grand prize! He
will get a lot of good use from the CSM simulator. Watch out
Curtis :) Speaking of really good pilots, Mark Kiner was
there. He amazed everyone when he came into an inverted hover
only a couple of inches above the ground and then executed
multiple elevator and aileron flip flops with his blades rotating
just inches above the grass! We had a good time there. The place
was easy to find. We did however discover a shorter route through
Greenville. While we were passing through there, we saw Tom
Nuchols getting some gas. I guess the saying "It's a small
world" holds true.
