There are a couple bands that we've played with that we think should get special mention in this history that we can't froget about. The first couple are High School bands that the members of Eww.. You're a Girl and Girls Suck! played and changed the sound/attitude of the band. Here they are:
1. Moby's Dick. This trio consisted of Paul, Ryan and their friend Geoff. Only playing one show, this musically the worst band to ever grace the stage of the Opera House in Toronto. The band was a joke to get back at this promotion company Supernova mentioned earlier, which would take money from kids and give them nothing in return. These guys would tell the bands to charge ten dollars for the tickets (remembering that most local Toronto shows are five or six at most) and take all the profits for themselves. This attitude really pissed us off and we deicide to play the worst show we could think of. Thus, Moby's Dick was formed. This small band could go in has a side note, except for after the set people were telling us that our set was funny and entertaining. Both Paul and Ryan took this praise and applied it to the Eww… You're a Girl live show. That's why we're so crazy.
2. The Stiffs. I think that we've played with the Stiffs more times than another other band in Toronto (except Closet Monster and Marilyn's Viamins). Just by playing with them so much, I think that have gotten used to our ridiculous sets. Sorry to Rob Moir for trying to pie him in the face. All the same, their CD on Ductape is great and everyone should buy one (I know it sounds like an ad, but they're our friends).
3. The Meligrove Band. We just like these guys (Ryan's seen them like eleven times in the past year)! They played their first show with us, and we been buds since then. Watch for their new CD out on Ductape records!
4. 5 Finger Discount. These guys gave us our first show that wasn't some stupid high school show or some battle of the bands. They also reminds that we didn't want to be a hardcore band. They're just too serious.
5. Marilyn's Vitamins. Has Mike Long will surely tell you, he saw this band almost 30 times before they broke up. Both their final show and Squeegee Girl 7" release show were really important to us. Their influence is not so much musical, but in the encouragement that they gave us right after Rich left.
6. Next In Line. The simple reason is that at one point or another each one of the three remaining members of Eww... You're A Girl have played in this band. I think the only place that you'll see their stuff is on the Ductape double CD and a Raw Energy comp. This is Ari's project before drumming for us.
7. The Moops. It's Sam's band. They're great! Love those Moops and their emo styles! Also, Sam was always putting us on bills for shows he was putting on. Thanks to him in the summer of 1998, I think we we playing a show every other week. It was crazy. We played with Tuesday (before they broke up), and some other bands from the States.
8. Sassing Mackenzie. These guys covered one of our songs? I don't even begin to understand that, but someday I will.
9. Doug. This is Simon Head's band. They're cool and since Simon lend us so much stuff, I think that anyone who likes the sound of our stuff should check out Doug because it the same equipment, just different people playing them.
Over the years, we've had to deal with many, many different things in order to play shows. Sometimes we just get people to fill-in on drums, but that doesn't always work out, so other arrangement have to be made. Here are all the ways that people have performed under the name Eww... You're A Girl and Girls Suck.
So, there you have it... every line (I think). ENJOY!
