Lignum Vitae began in 1977, when company President Scott Morrison graduated from Middlebury College with a Bachelors degree in Art History. The focus of Morrison’s Art History degree was eighteenth and nineteenth century architecture in the Lake Champlain Valley of Vermont. During college, Morrison surveyed, researched and wrote about the surrounding built environment. He became concerned that an alarming number of historic buildings were being altered beyond recognition or were disappearing entirely. In direct response to this concern, Morrison teamed up with partner Jack Dobek to form Lignum Vitae. Twenty years later Lignum Vitae still maintains its
dedication to the historic preservation field while providing top quality
products and services to clients nationwide.
