THOMAS M. SHAW

PRESQUE ISLE -- Thomas M. Shaw, 88, died at a local hospital Tuesday following a four month illness.

He was born at Washburn March 13, 1878, the son of John and Alice (Day) Shaw. He had lived here all his life and was a member of the Full Gospel Assembly, a former member of the IOOF of Presque Isle, and had farmed for more than 40 years on the Back Caribou Road.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Eunice Fuller Valley Shaw of Presque Isle; a son, Otis of Presque Isle: two daughters, Mrs. Edna Buchanan of Presque Isle and Mrs. Ethel Adams of Washburn; two stepsons, Edwin Valley of Charlestown, Mass. and Dwight Valley of Whitman, Mass.; four step-daughters, Mrs. Edna Hersey of Presque Isle, Mrs. Almeda Elliott of Springfield, Mo., Mrs. Dorothy Sperrey of Washburn, and Mrs. Naida Parks of Caribou; a brother, Fay Shaw of Presque Isle; two sisters, Mrs. Abbie Nickerson of Bar Harbor, and Mrs. Beulah DeMartino of Waterbury, Conn.; nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, six great great-grandchildren, 26 step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Graves Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m, on Wednesday.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the funeral home Thursday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Bernard R. Pawten, pastor of the Full Gospel Assembly will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Daniel Pike.

Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery. 1
