WASHBURN - Helen Hope Stubbs, 100, died Saturday at her residence following a brief illness. She was born October 11, 1863 in Keegan, the daughter of Elizas and Alice (Keegan) Crock.
She was Washburn's oldest resident and formerly had lived in Caribou. She is survived by three sons, Henry R. Stubbs of Woodland Floyd V. and Alton B. Stubbs, both of Washburn; two daughters, Mrs. Vera Burgess of Torrence, Calif., and Mrs. Velma Alshire of Luray, Va.; four sons by an earlier marriage, Clifton Dow of Massachusetts, Clarence Dow of Caribou, Harold Dow and Hughie Bubar, both of Caribou; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Read Blackstone officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
