CHAPMAN -- Mrs. Mertie Wilcox, 75, died here Tuesday afternoon after a long illness.
She was born at Washburn, June 17, 1888, the daughter of Allen and Abbie (Remie) Drost. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Washburn.
She is survived by her husband, William T. Wilcox; six sons, Roy and Beecher of Chapman, Fred of Easton, Merle and Sterling of Washburn, and Arnold of Windsor, Conn.; four daughters, Mrs. Hazel Page of Easton, Mrs. Susie Brockman of California, Mrs. Laura Carter and Mrs. Fern Faaley, both of Mapleton; two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Bouchy of Washburn and Mrs. Doris Gardner of Pasadena, Tex.; five brothers, Henry and Herbert Drost of Wade, Warren of Washburn, Byron of Hartford, Conn., and Maurice of Wade;: 44 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the R. W. Wight Funeral Home at Presque Isle Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the Washburn Pentecostal Church Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Lloyd Sparks officiating, assisted by the Rev. Read, Blackstone.
Burial will he in the family lot at Riverside Cemetery, Washburn.
