Bluebird Specs |
I am giving specs on three different bluebirds; Eastern Bluebird, Western Bluebird, and Mountain Bluebird. |
Eastern Bluebird - Size 5 1/2 inches. The Males have blue backs, orange breast. The females have the same colors only duller. They feed on mealworms, berries, raisins, soft fruit and suet. Very attracted to water. Eastern Bluebirds reside in the eastern two thirds of North America, however they will migrate to the south in the bad winter months. |
Western Bluebird - Size 5 1/2 inches. Males have dark blue and a rusty color backs, a blue bib above a rusty colored belly. They enjoy to feed on mealworms, berries, raisins, other fruits that are soft, and suet. They of course reside in the western half of North America. And they too will migrate to the south in bad winter months. |
Mountain Bluebird - Size 6 inches. Has a dark blue back with a lighter blue breast and belly. Loves to feed on berries, insects, suet, and fruit. Mountain Bluebirds do not readily visit bird feeders. They reside in western part of North America, at high elevations. |
