Maid of Honor: Tonia Owens, Sister of the Bride

After I asked Tonia to be my Maid of Honor, she (after saying yes of course) immediately told me what she "wasn't" going to do.  She does not want to make a toast at the reception, nor does she want to dance any kind of spotlight dance either.  If I can arrange it so she doesn't have to walk down the aisle by herself, I do believe she would be very happy.  No matter what she does and does not want, I can't imagine any one else as my Maid of Honor.

Bridesmaid:  Carline Sauvignon, High School Friend of the Bride

I met Carline the first day of high school.  Sheltered child that I was, I didn't know how to get home using public transportation, after I missed the school bus home the first day of school.  (I know. But I've grown considerably since then.)  One of the teachers asked Carline to show me how to get home and we've been buddies ever since.  When I told Carline I was engaged, true to our relationship she said, "Okay, first I have to do the jealous female bit...You Suck!  Okay, I'm over it.
Oooooh, I'm so happy for you!"

Bridesmaid:  Sharita Brown, College Friend of the Bride

I've known Sharita since freshman year at Hampton.  She's my fellow Virgo.  Although, I must admit I can never remember if her birthday is four days before mine, on the sixth, or six days before mine on the fourth.  One thing I remember is that she has another virgo in her life, her son Devin, who's birth day is September 9th.  Oh yeah, I don't know who started calling me Nadia, Coretta or Sharita.  But they're about the only ones who do.  Just one of the reasons they're special to me,  because they gave me one of my first real
nicknames. * (See below)    Plus, they know the stupid stuff I did in college, so I've got to keep them happy so they won't tell.  :-)

Bridesmaid: Coretta Wright, College Friend of the Bride

I've known Coretta since sophomore year at Hampton.  While I was calling Coretta "Co-retta Scott King", she was calling me, "Nadia Comenici."  Don't ask me why.   I think my calling her Ms. King has a little to do with her being a PK  (preachers kid).   Although we don't talk to each other as often as we should, when we do, it's just a matter of filling in the blanks from the last time and making up for lost time.  Although somehow I seem to be the one who gets in trouble more for not calling.  Why is that Coretta?  Anyway, for all of my friends in my wedding party, this is the best excuse in the world to get together and have some fun.

*I stand corrected
