On Christmas Eve, 1997, the Slava Men's Chorus, as part of the annual holiday program sponsored by Washington DC's WMAL am 630 radio station, performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Surrounded by such well known acts in the Washington area as The Capitol Steps and the Paul Hill Chorale, the Slava Men's Chorus celebrated the season with a rich blend of traditional Slavic and Eastern European Christmas carols. The performance delighted those present that day and was enjoyed by the listeners throughout the Washington region as it was broadcast live. The grandeur of the Kennedy Center Opera House was the fitting venue for introducing the rich culture and holiday traditions of the Slavic heritage to an area so rich in ethnic diversity.
