The Slava Men's Chorus at the Basilica Shrine

You are here: Home > Basilica Shrine

The Basilica Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is a wonderful tribute to the pureness of the Virgin Mary and her Son, Jesus Christ. As the largest church in the Western hemisphere and eighth largest in the world, the majestic nature and expansive area of the Great Upper Church combined with the solemn yet beautiful lower Crypt Church creates a feeling of spiritual power that reverbrates through the strength of the stone that firmly holds the church. Located within the church are over 60 chapels dedicated to those Christians who have called the United States their home. Included in this is the Eastern Rite Chapel.

In this image the Pilgrimage to the Shrine is captured in a card given to each of the faithful who attended the heirarchial liturgy during the crisp day in October in our nation's capital.
