One of the most common problems with lilacs is powdery mildew. This fungus appears as a white or gray powdery growth on the leaves. you can help prevent powdery mildew by watering from below the leaves, watering in the morning to prevent leaves from standing wet for long periods and pruning to allow good air circulation.
