What If

What if...
What if the sun never fell, and the moon never rose,
What if a mother was never, and tears never perched on a childs nose.
What if fears weren't real and dreams came true,
Would that mean, I wasn't I and you just weren't you?

What if...
What if a heart wasn't broken, and another wasn't free
What if the world never turned, then were would we be?
What if snow would never fall, and there was no morning dew,
Would I be I and you be you?

What if...
What if forgetting was possible, and wishing was to,
What if love was fortellable, then would things be new,
What if lame could walk, and the blind could see.
Was I ever I, and were you ever you?

What if..
What if trust was a robber, and faith a gypsy of sin,
What if the winner could lose, and the loser could win.
What if memories were never painful, or happy or sad,
Why would I be I, and could you be you?

What if...
What If I was never I because If's could come true,
What if the past was in pencil, not etched in a plate,
What if, what if's would never be the same?

Could you lie to me and still win me away?

Would you end it all with a bat of an eye?

When you take that trail, will you know where it ends?

Why...
Would I still be I, and you still be you?

What if...
For once We could read between the lines..
