I've watched you through a shadow,
so long it seems right now.
I've been a shoulder, a friend, a mentor,
but in a whisper I'll see it fade away.
Sorrows and pains I've watched you,

I've cried, I've cared, I've dreamed.
When you fell I've been there,
wrapped in a burden of my own,
watching you live, breathe, bleed.

I reach out to touch you, this shadowy home,
a prison I've found in loving you,
a promise that I'd never hurt you.

Cast away by mine own reason,
curled up in this shadowy prison.
