BRIDGE

Playing bridge is like having sex.

If you don't have a good partner, you better have a good hand!

Whenever I say that I enjoy playing Bridge, I would receive that "Isn't that an old man's game?" response. That got me thinking if I am indeed ageing... is the interest in Bridge a sign of ageing?

Well...yes, I can't deny that I am indeed ageing. But, isn't that the same for everyone? Aren't we all not ageing as the seconds go by? But is Bridge an old man's game? I certainty don't think so. It's a difficult game though and although I have started playing Bridge for more than 3 years, I am still nowhere near being an average player *SIGH SIGH SIGH*.

Learning to play Bridge has not been all smooth sailing. I can still remember vividly how I was asked to leave a table for bidding so horribly; how I had to let go of my pride and apologize repeatedly for playing a hand badly; and many more heartbreaking experiences. If not for the many many nice players who constantly encourage me and kept me going, I would have given up on the game long ago.

Well, what is it about Bridge that I enjoy? Hmm... the complexity of the game, the amazing bidding mechanism put in place for communicating to your partner about your hand, the... ARG! It's something that cannot be describe by words and you have to experience it yourself!

You are now interested to learn Bridge? Try visiting these sites: Karen's Bridge Library ; Richard Pavlicek's bidding guide. That's where I got to learn alot about Bridge. However, while it is true that you will get to learn alot about Bridge through reading, it's the playing part that makes you learn the most about Bridge! So, if you wanna play a few hands of Bridge after understanding some basic rules on Bridge, Yahoo! Bridge is a good place to start off with. That's where I first started playing Bridge and I still try to make time to play a couple of hands there everyday *smile*.

Do also join the Max's Alley Club where you will get to know more than just Bridge. A bunch of really fun people there!!! Online bridge competitions are also organised by members of this club. I have directed 5 of these competitions so far *smile*.

Through my 3 years plus of playing Bridge in Yahoo!, not only did I learn to play better Bridge, I also got to know many many nice people, some of whom have since became my very good friends.

Hey friends! This site is specially dedicated to you.

Thanks for your patience in my horrible Bridge skills.

Thanks for making my Bridge learning experience such a wonderful one.

Most importantly, thanks for the most wonderful friendship!

Dream...

To be a very good Bridge player who is able to apply all the bidding conventions in the world! Also, I hope that I can find a regular Bridge partner who plays the same convention as me. My bidding convention? Hmm... it's still under "construction"! Ha

Hey! If you are online and wants to play a couple of hands, do drop me a message
