PROTECT ELEPHANTS! VOICE YOUR OPINION TODAY!
Click here to link to the House of Representatives' page about this bill!
The Captive Elephant Accident Prevention Act of 1999 (H.R.2929) would prohibit, and set penalties for, knowingly making available an elephant for use in a traveling show or circus, or for the purpose of allowing individuals to ride that elephant. The Subcommittee on Crime of the House of Representatives' Committee on the Judiciary heard testimony on June 13th both for and against this bill, and it is currently under consideration. It is imperative that the Committee members hear from citizens right away on this issue.
Please send an e-mail or fax or call as many of the Representatives listed below as possible A.S.A.P.! Let them know that elephants belong in the wild, not in circuses!

Representative McCollum,
I am writing as a concerned citizen and animal lover to urge you to support HR 2929, the Captive Elephant Accident Prevention Act. We can no longer allow these beautiful and noble beasts to be subjected to physical and mental cruelty, deprivation and degradation for the sake of our "entertainment." It is also well documented that these long suffering creatures create danger for humans when they can no longer endure the unnatural conditions of their captivity. Please, whether out of a sense of compassion for the mighty elephants or out of a sense of fear for the safety of humans, support this bill and keep elephants out of circuses and ride attractions. Thank you for your consideration of this important matter.
Sincerely,
