Secretary Babbitt,

I am writing as a concerned citizen, animal lover and outdoors enthusiast to urge you to reject any policy change allowing removal or hunting of wildlife in national parks or monuments for any reason. Animals (such as golden eagles, at risk of being massacred by the Hopi Indian tribe) need our protection and compassion in order to thrive, and must not be seen as disposable resources that can be used by humans for religious sacrifice, entertainment, profit, etc. There is no justification for the murder of innocent animals, particularly not in the pristine havens which are our National Parks. As open space dwindles, it is our highest duty to ensure that these federal lands remain sanctuaries for the beleaguered wildlife that suffer as a result of our ever-expanding development and increasing human population.

Please use your position of authority to meet our obligation to these noble beasts and do not allow them to become disposable goods to be killed at the whim of humans. They deserve better, and the American people demand better.

Thank you for your consideration of this important matter.

Sincerely,
