Raijen with his blanket
Raijen has decided that it is fun to take a shower with us. The first time he did this. I was home alone, and felt something brushing up against my legs. I was startled. I looked down and Raijen was in the shower with me. He did not seem to want to get out either. He walked around for awhile and was soaking wet, when he decided to leave. After he left the shower, he decided it was time to dry off. So he jumped up on my side of the bed and rolled around attempting to dry off. He now will go into the shower with anyone that forgets to shut the door all the way.
I had to take a short trip out of town, and my husband stayed home. When I arrived back home, it seemed that Raijen had doubled his size. He had gotten longer and taller in just 5 days. I was amazed. Being with him all the time I guess I don't seem to notice how much he is growing, but being away for the 5 days, I really noticed.
Raijen is still eating Zupreme. He lets us know when he is hungry. He will go over 5 hours inbetween feedings on some days, and only 3 hours on other days. I still leave the Iams kitten dry food out for him, but he just doesn't seem to want it. My other cats love it. Raijen is going to be a finicky eater I believe. He is now also drinking from the big boys water bowl, so we just keep a small bowl of water by his food during feeding. Otherwise he just dumps the bowl over to play in the water.
Raijen has picked up some bad habits that we are trying to break him of. He likes to come up behind you while you are sitting down and pounce on your head. I really don't want this to be happening when he is full grown, with teeth and claws. So we are attempting to break him of this. He especially likes to do it to my daughter, with her long hair. He thinks her hair is his play toy. While we are sleeping he will come up to you and start biting on our head and necks. This again is something we are working on to stop. He just wants us up so we will play with him, but it is a very dangerous situation for us, since he does not know the strength of his bite as of yet.
Raijen's new trick is to go into my daughters bedroom and steal her beanie babies. He will pull one out and throw it into the air and then catch it again. When my daughter realizes he has it, she will hunt him down. Raijen thinks it is a game, so he does it as often as possible. We have decided to purchase him his own beanie baby, so he will not steal my daughters. My daughter treasures her beanie babies, so she has put her valuable ones up high. It won't be long before he can jump up higher than she will be able to put them.
Raijen had an accident during this time. He was on the cat tree, which is in our livingroom. He decided that he needed to pounce on one of the other cats. So he took a flying leap, and landed wrong on his rear legs. We took him into the vets and had xrays done. Nothing was broken (thank god), he was just sore. He was on no activity for awhile. He did not mind that. He rested for 2 to 3 days, and then he was off again. I think Raijen just missed seeing Dr. Miller and Paula, and wanted to go back. I guess he forgot that he has an appointment with them for his last series of shots. Or he just wanted to remind me that owning an exotic pet is an expensive venture.
Raijen decided that on one of his explorations of the house, he wanted to see what else was kept where his opened can of Zupreme is. We actually got a picture of him in the refridgerator, thanks to Michaels quickness with the camera.
We also had to trim his claws during this time. As you can see by the photograph, it was not an easy task. The first couple of times we did this, it was not problem. But I guess Raijen was not in the mood for it, and was showing us that he is a real bobcat.
I have to insert this picture of Yo-Yo, he was lounging on the cat tree. His rearend is on the window sill, with the front end on the cat tree, and the middle area, just hanging there.
