Chevreherd Foundation Dogs
(many of the dogs mentioned are pictured on the "photo album" page which is a different web site dedicated to the Working Australian Shepherd)

THE FAB FOUR:  Any of these four dogs and their other littermates would have had a Working Trial Champion (WTCH) under different circumstances--they were all good dogs. These dogs were from the golden cross of Cheshire Better Be with Vest's Bell Star Jim. I had the good fortune to watch WTCH Vest's Bell Star Doc , Jim's sire, work several times during the mid '80's. Vest's Chargin' Belle Starr, Jim's dam, had already passed on by then.

Chevreherd Be Jim Dandy STDs, HS, DNA-CP  "Jay" was my  right-hand man on the farm. He is sorely missed, but he lives on through Chevreherd Priceless Pearl  pups. Though Jay was shown only briefly in conformation (I didn't like doing it & quit), he got Winner's Dog and a major in Maryland on May 21, 1989 at Mid Atlantic's ASCA show. Judge Mrs. Barbara J. Anthony said of  Jay, "My Winner's Dog looked not only as though built to herd, but as though he could handle an obstreperous ram! He was totally balanced and tolerated my touching him; a bonus in a dominant dog such as he, with such great strength and size".

Chevreherd Sheila Be Better, DNA-CP  "Sheila" produced several nice pups including my "Dal" and "Sweetums" (littermate to TsaTsa).  Sheila was a very controlled worker who was especially good with babies of all kinds.  She was very good in tight spots and would squeeze in wherever needed.  Sheila preferred the top end of the stock and would occasionally heel. Shelia competed in the 1990 CO Futurity and received 4th place

Chevreherd Kayla Celebration  "Kayla" earned her keep helping my husband with dairy chores until I got the bright idea to take her to the 1995 ASCA Nationals--I guess it was worth it, she qualified on started cattle and brought home the 2nd place ribbon in started sheep.  Kayla was probably the most naturally talented worker of the Fab Four and heeled stock very prettily--which was lucky because she liked to heel a lot.

Chevreherd Bell Star Cedar  "Cedar", was Tara's mom.  Cedar was named after her grandma, Incense Cedar of Cheshire, because I thought she very much resembled her.  Cedar's real home was on an Iowa farm but I did lease her back in order to produce Tara.
