"Laverne"

Laverne has produced 4 champions to date.
She is a bit of a hard-luck girl as she ruptured her uterus on the last litter she produced for us in 2001.  Her uterus was repaired and then she developed "closed pyometra" which is so hard to detect!  You have no discharge, no temperature!  Thanks to the efforts of Dr.Robt.Hutchison, Laverne was properly diagnosed and treated successfully!
Here are some photos of her championship get:

Ch. Wannabee Pretzels N Beer
"Brew"

Sired By: Ch.Wannabee Laughing Out Loud
Date Of Birth: 1-26-00
Championship Earned: 5-6-01
He was shown to his CH. by us, but owned by Tana Thames.
We will never forget the day he earned his Championship.
Brew is the one that made us realize the Wannabees have unique personalities: During the singing of the National Anthem, he laid down on the floor and covered his ears with his paws!!!!

Ch. Wannabee Leisure Suit Larry
"Lucky"

Sired By: Ch.Wannabee Laughing Out Loud

This will always remain one of my favorite
Wannabee Names !!!!

Ch.Wannabee Really Really Rude
"Rudi2"

Plain and Simple and Straight Upfront: There Will NEVER Be Another Laverne!

From the moment she opened her eyes and took her first steps, we knew this girl was not going to be an ordinary Plain Jane!
She had this burning intensity in her eyes and a fierce desire to conquer anything that stood in her way!
We packed up her and her brother, "Bull" and headed to their very first show in Michigan at just a little over six months of age.

Can you imagine what a thrill it was for her to go Best of Breed over FIVE specials for a Five Point Major her first time out???? In addition to this, her brother "Bull" took a Four Point Major and went Winners Dog!
Now the nerves REALLY began to kick in because, for the first time in my life, I was going to be walking into the Group Ring!!! As I stood at ringside with my trusty old squeeky toy in hand, a handler looked over and yelled at me! "You can't take that thing in the group ring!!" I was devastated!!! What could I possibly do to hold her attention in the ring? I ran over to the show superintendant and asked if there really was such a ruling! The person behind the desk looked up at me and laughed, "First Time You're Goin' In the Group Ring, Right Sweetie? You go ahead and take whatever works on that young pup and good luck to you!"

Here's a picture of us walking out of there with a Group Two!!!! I had tears streaming from my face and ran over to the photographer for my picture!!! There was a man standing there draping this gorgeous red velvet cloth over the
podium and I gave "Laverne" the signal and she jumped up on that velvet and we heard this huge GASP from the man!!!! Ok, so how was I supposed to know that he was the person that took the Group One and it happened to be the #1 Shih Tzu in the nation and it was his own, private red velvet????? He just about swept Laverne off her feet as he swooped the velvet out from under her!
Laverne continued on this winning rampage and took another Breed win over Specials her next time out!

Here we are winning the Breed under Edd Bivin. He's a judge that can intimidate the most seasoned handler on the circuit!
I was showing "Laverne" in the Bred By class. As we entered the ring and began to go around, he shouted over to the Ring Steward: "Just How Old Is This Bitch Supposed To Be?"
I stopped dead in my tracks and said, "I'm Fifty One!!!" He looked up at me with total shock and began shaking his head. "Not You!!! I'm Trying To Find Out How Old Your Dog Is!!!"
Please remember that at this time I was brand new to the show ring! Needless to say, I've had my share of embarrassing moments and I find myself sharing them with you as I sit here and type the story of Laverne. Perhaps you've begun to realize why I say we'll never have another like her! To add another interesting note to her story:
"Laverne" was actually ranked at #7 in the nation BEFORE she was a champion!
