"Bonnie"

We'd love to share our story with you about the little girl that endeared us to this breed. Here's the story of a very special lady in our life!

We'd like to share with you a picture of Ch. Sunbrook War Bonnet. This was our introduction to "Bonnie Lou" and it was the first time we met her as well!
It was love at first sight for us, how 'bout for you? Since there was no way for us to resist that cute little face and those big, floppy ears - we immediately said "yes"! At that point, we were told that her ears would be cropped and we would be notified when she was ready to be picked up. Sue and Earl Shore then called us and told us we could meet them at a show in Gary, Indiana to receive our pup. A month or so later, we attended a dog show in Cleveland, Ohio and were introduced to Davin McAteer and we hired him to train her and start "Bonnie" in the show ring for us.

If anyone ever laughs at you for taking a picture of your dog in it's very first show, please do us a favor and send them this link!
Here's a picture of Bonnie winning her first blue ribbon and we still laugh about it today! We wouldn't trade this memory for anything in the world!!
Our Very First Show Dog!!!!!
When you compare this photo to a Best Of Breed photo about a year later, it's remarkable to see the transformation that took place! By this time, we had Linda Stevens handling for us.

Here's a photo of "Bonnie" while she was in Florida and she had just beaten the #1 Min Pin in the nation at that time!
If you study her conformation in this photo, you will see that we had no idea how lucky we were when we picked that pup from a photograph!
We have so very much to be grateful for!

With heavy hearts and tears in our eyes, we need to announce the passing of "Bonnie" from this lifetime.

In a matter of two days time, Bonnie went from her normal, "I'm too pretty to play with you" attitude, to a stumbling, lethargic shell of herself. We took her to the vet, but knew in our hearts she would never return home with us. It was determined that Bonnie had a lesion on the brain and her quality of life was gone. She was humanely euthanized. A little piece of me left with her that day. I'm hoping she's saving it for me or at least shares it with "Henry" when he gets her settled into the routine of things.

This is a great photo taken at a happier time: Bonnie is in the kiddie pool - doing what she loved so much. Here's to you, Bonnie, and to many days of sunshine and casual lounging near the pool - keep us in your thoughts!
