This ring belongs to..."Rings For A Cause"

After volunteering so long at my local animal shelter, I have seen many animals come and go. Some stay longer than others and we grow more fond of them week after week. We see how special they are and cannot understand why day after day, week after week they are overlooked and others are picked. You can't always judge an animal by how it acts in a shelter...lots of the ones that are there for long time are overly shy or skittish or have been labeled "bad"..but once they are in a home away from the stress of a shelter they are perfectly fine. The noise of all the dogs barking is enough to scare a shy dog and can terrify a cat.

Many people don't think animals have feelings but they know when they have been ignored and another picked. I have seen them sit up and take notice of someone special who comes in. Perhaps the person reminds them of their former owner. I have seen them ignored while another is picked and I can see it hurts and they retreat to a corner of the cage with a dejected look. After a certain amount of time they give up and do not pay attention to the people coming in. These animals are usually a little older, usually pretty scared and wondering what they did to deserve being here. They are often overlooked because people want the babies.

These animals are very special. Please do not overlook them when you are searching for a new friend. And please be sure to visit your local animal shelter when it is time to add a valued member to your family. Getting off my soapbox now, if you would like to become a member of this webring, please read the instructions below.
