Construction Log - Aug 27th to Sept 16th
Although our website didn't reflect it, its been a busy couple of weeks. Preparations for moving in to our new home and an illness and subsequent passing of one of our beloved greyhounds - Calvin have kept us off the computers for any length of time. The drywallers started the week of August 27th. Hanging all the sheetrock only took two days. The materials they used were all 12 foot or longer boards so it went quick. The process of taping, mudiing and sanding took another week. Then a texture coat and two color coats were applied. The drywallers were finished with all their work early the week of September 10th.

Once the paint was dry, the flooring crew began their work. Underlayment was placed on the floors underneath where the tile and vinyl is going. Then the tile was installed and grouted and the vinyl in the laundry room was layed. This weekend and, if necessary, early next week, the wood laminate pad and flooring will be installed. Early next week, the trim carpenters will begin their work as well. Their wood and supplies were delivered Friday.

There was activity on the lot and on the exterior as well. The drilling contractor was onsite for a week and a half digging our well. They had some mechanical problems that slowed them down, but they should have completed the well this Friday. We understand that a neighbor close to us that just sunk a new well the same depth as ours has high concentrations of iron in their water. We will have our builder begin to look into alternatives to treat iron in anticipation of having the same problem.

This past week, the siding was put up and the garage doors hung. The siding crew took about 3 and a half days to complete their work. Its nice to see the exterior change. Its been pretty much the same since the roofer completed his work. The only remaining work on the exterior facade is the brick work. The bricks and mortor for the bricklayers was delivered this week.
Here are some pics of the progress on the home site:
