A LITTLE BACKGROUND

You might be asking yourself how someone can have so many gerbils. You might even ask what sort of person would have a bunch of gerbils. :)
Well, I would for one. Anyways, my name is Melissa and I am 20 years old. I live in Colorado Springs, CO where I attend classes at Pikes Peak Community College. I'm studying Networking Technology if anybody cares. ;)
I spend my non-school time working at Petco in the grooming department, I bathe dogs y'see.
The animal craze and more specifically, the gerbil craze, began in 1990 with 2 little agouti spot gerbils that I got for Christmas. A couple of years later I started breeding. It didn't last too long, I lost a couple of babies and decided that it was too sad. A few years later I decided to try again however and bred a few more litters (from one pair). Unfortunately this pair died before their time, and I never replaced them. Summer of 1997 found me buying a pair of gerbils and beginning to learn color genetics. I am currently still breeding and have many pups available. Soon, I will even have some of the rarer colors to offer.
In addition to the gerbils, I had/have and used to breed Guinea Pigs and Rabbits. I was very successful with the rabbits and was beginning to have a nice, show-winning herd when BAM!, I went to college. I had rabbits and guinea pigs for 4 years and was in 4-H for 3 years. I still have 1 rabbit (Warcloud), 1 rat (Kovu), 1 leopard gecko (Picasso)and I'm currently watching 3 rabbits for friends of mine. I also have a dog, a purebred Australian Cattle Dog, named Raven. My family also has 2 other dogs (Maggie and Annie) and a cat (Rocky). That's about it for the madness.
One of these days I hope to move someplace where I can get Raven a few sheep or cows to herd. I've always been kinda fond of livestock. :)That way I'll also be able to start showing rabbits again. So that's about all I do right now. Raise gerbils, work and do homework. Hope I haven't bored you to death. 1
