THE DIGNIFIED RANT
My Art Tour
The Dining and Office Area
This area has the dining room table, the bar, and three desks with two computers for mister and myself. Oh, and a small child's desk for Lamb to use.
Initially I had the dining table under the bar with the open window way that looks into the kitchen. The window overlooking the very large common area was rather wasted since that was the toy dumping area. I have originally planned to build or buy a toy chest. When I rearranged the main floor I moved the table to the window, after moving the toys to a more suitable space in the living area. Now sitting at the table gives us a nice view and puts us closer to the bird feeder in rock garden.
This also freed up the bar for a couple stools. Sometimes Mister and I will have burger meals "sitting at the counter." And the change freed up some space on the north wall for another small desk for Mister.Over Mister's computer desk is a print of an old map that I picked up on Mackinac Island back when I was in the National Guard. On one summer camp at Grayling, we had a day off and headed up to the island and this was my souveneir. Like I've noted, I like old maps:
Over my desk is a print of the Capitol Building in Lansing after its restoration. It commemorates the rededication of the House chambers and adjacent areas on April 24, 1990. The building is truly magnificent and though I don't work in it, just walking by it every day reminds me that I don't just work in an office. And walking in the building is truly special. I may be cynical about the details of governing but in the big picture I'm quite the idealist. Good people do their best here. It is a place where the elected representatives of our people govern:
Actually, if you sit at the bar you can see the tree frog picture in the kitchen, so I'll show it here, too:
You can climb into the Kitchen or walk over to the entry way to the main living area.
