In an article dated 6 Jan 99 written in the FL Today newspaper, Robert
Schorb, FTCM, USN, (RET) writes: "I've associated myself with a newy formed
organization. The Florida Chief Petty Officers Group. We have many retired
chiefs here and I've been asked to locate as many as I can. We hope to
meet twice a year in a Central Florida location conveni nt to all. Our
meeting will last for two, three or four days." There'll be tours and banquets,
but what Bob's looking forward to most "is just getting together, wives
included, and having a good time." Fun, and reliving the past with jokes
is the goal, he said, noting: "We currently have no dues, only an initial
donation of $5.00 that will be spent mostly on newsletter postage." You
can contact Bob at (407) 773-7309. I spoke to Bob this evening and sent
him our website. The invitation is open to ALL Chief Petty Officers...At
his convenience and ours, I've invited him to come talk to us one weekend.
Wouldn't be great to have these guys at our initiations?
Bob's email address is mchief1@juno.com

Ahoy to my fellow Chief Petty Officers. I've found you on the "Goat
Locker" web page and I'd just like to say Hi. My name is David J. Michael,
NCCM(SW), USN, (Ret.) and I'm the Director of the "Navy Log" at the United
States Navy Memorial, home of the "Lone Sailor", in Washington, DC. (www.lonesailor.org).
For those of you who are already "registered" in the Navy Log may I simply
say from one Chief to another thank you for supporting the Navy Memorial.
It's Chiefs' like you that continue to help support our mission which is
to honor all naval veterans both past and present. To my new friends please
let me introduce you to "your" Memorial and Heritage Center here in Washington,
DC and the Navy Log by inviting you to visit our home page, (www.lonesailor.org).
I think you will find it extremely interesting and informative. We currently
have almost a quarter of a million registered in the Navy Log. We display
individual service history's and photographs as they are made available
to us. This project is ongoing and I hope you will take that next step
by entering yourself or a shipmate in the Navy Log. As a "member" of the
strongest fraternity in the world, I salute you, and wish you good health.
