When my husband was on active duty, I always enjoyed my affiliation with the Navy Wives' Club. What a great group of ladies! From the youngest to the oldest our comradeship was superior. Satchel Paige once said, "How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?" Well, these wives were such dynamic individuals that age was of no consequence. How do military wives retain their youthfulness? I really am at a loss to explain that, but I can say that I have never seen what one might refer to as an "old" military wife.

I must confess that I have given this some thought of late, since I am now what is generally known as a Senior Citizen! But you know what? I could walk into any Navy Wives' Club today, and fit snugly. Perhaps it is the anticipation of tomorrow and the unknown future which causes us to live only for today. This alone keeps us out of the future so to speak, and age IS in the future.
