Carl Mc Crary Legionaire of the Year

During the business and dinner meeting on the 17th of December Carl Mc Crary was honored as Post 285 Legionnaire of the Year. The award was presented by the Post commander Bill Englert.
Carl was honored at the annual Christmas dinner for his service to the post. Carl, as bloodbank chairman, has worked many long hours to ensure that each blood drive is highly successful and that all the goals are met or exceeded. Bill Englert the Post commander said " Carl H. Mc Crary is a highly

dedicated and loyal member off this Post and has been for the last 53 Years"
      Also honored were Clair Lee and Ed Schmidt.
Both received commanders appreciation plaques.
  Clair Lee is the post adjutant, is on the Bingo committee and is in charge of pulltab sales on Bingo nights.
  Ed Schmidt is the Post finance officer. He is also the Bingo chairman and is responsible for rental of the Legion hall

During 1997 the Post Bingo proceeds paid for 2 boys to go to Boys State, Paid four seven hundred and fifty dollar scholarships, donated more than $10,000 to charitable activities, made improvements to the Legion Hall, paid over $150,000 in bingo

prizes, numerous other projects and still has money in the bank.. Bingo works only with volunteers .
