Liked the part on the training aircraft carriers. USS Wolverine (ex Seeandbee) also was a side wheeler, not a stern wheel paddle boat. I have the plans. Many of the aircraft that crashed off both vessels now are being recovered and restored. Some even fly! The Kalamazoo Air Museum (the Air Zoo) is one with an active program and always has one in the shop. It is called the Air 'Zoo because it has an example of every Cat the Navy has flown. Well worth a visit.

Hey Bob, the restoration photos are great. Who would have thought that one of your planes would be found in a playground. I wish now my dad was still around, he would have loved this stuff. Why the heck didn't you two talk about this stuff when Bob & I were kids? ou've done a wonderful job with your story. It's touched a lot of people (like it should). Hope to get by for Christmas this year. -russ

I was referred to your sight in hopes you could help with finding an article I read about the Wolverine and landing SNJ's. This is a great presentation. Iam a war baby, but have studied and am fascinated with this period in our history. This was my parents generation and a great time of coming together to repel an imminent real threat. I often wonder what I would do if I was raft age in that era. I salute you Sir and thank you for what you have done. I wish you a happy future, you have my respect.

Eye problems are the only thing slowing me down! I noted that Jim Wells was your first visitor! Unable to spot any more from VC 93, but am sure they must be in the thousands somewhere. Checked my log book and found that FM-2 # 56815 was my transportation on 4/12/45 when I lucked out on 3 Japs! I flew # 54513 off PETROF but unable to locate # 54512 yet! Will keep trying. SUPE

We are putting together a WWII memorial here and I and another guy are building the accompanying website. My father was a WWII vet(tailgunner) by the way. We re making a comprehensive tribute to the veterans of WWII who are from or have some ties to Florida. The site will also deal with any aspect of Florida's contribution to WWII. We ask veterans and/or their families to contact us if they have any informatio they would like us to include. We would really appreciate it. Mr. Allison, I've worked with your son for over 20 years. It was very interesting reading about your experiences during the war. I was involved in a slightly different type of war in Vietnam. I don't know if I really care to stir up the old memories of that conflict. o many of us were injured both physically and mentally. Maybe sometime in my future I'll put together a page to remember the better times during that war. Domenick Rivera 9th Infantry Div.

Hi, I liked the look and feel of your URL but on reading the story from page one I was blown away by your apologia and self-criticism for having the gall to write this story. It would be much improved without these negative statements. Offered with respect and my kind regards, John Woods

I am truly sorry I did not have this information and outstanding photos when I wrote the Petrof Bay book, "Escort Carrier WW II." I would however be interested in obtaining a number of these photos and using some of your information on the 2nd edition. Can you help me?

What a great site! My father was a pilot in the USN at the exact same time as Ens. Allison. Apparently they were exactly the same age as well and both came from the midwest. My father from Kansas. My father Dayo D. "Red" Prindle died in 1978, so reading t is for me has been an insight into how my father must have reacted at exactly the same time!!! I am doing a research paper and wanted my father's impressions of his time as a pilot in World War II but was kind of sunk because of his death. Then I found th s site. Thanks so much!!!!!

Hi Uncle Bob, I saw a draft last year and now it looks even better. Thanks for putting it where we can all get to it. Now we need to talk Carl into writing his, the statute of limitations should be past for most of his misadventures. Fritz
