Hello to everyone! My father was abord the Oriskany from 1962 to about june of 1966, he was "A" division, engineman. his name is Jerry Dunnagan, his full name is Jerrell Felton Dunnagan. it would be much appreciated if anyone that knew anything about him
ould get in contact with me. You see he treasures the memories he had aboard, but he has absolutely no one to share them with. (except me) i really want to do something special for him, just to let him know that i do care about him and the history of the
riskany. I myself was in the military, and i am still in contact with my good friends, i just wish that one day my father will be able to say the same! "My heart pours out to the crew of CVA-34, for all hell the ship has seen, and for all the accomplishme
ts"

Larry,
I haven't been here for a while so thought I would drop in. You have made this into one of the best of the many Oriskany web sites on the net. Good job ... and thanks for using the poem.

I was the ADCA from October 1974 until Sept 1976. I was privileged to be the OOD underway for her last arrested landing, an E-1B. Today I am the Chief Engineer of the USS HORNET. Oriskany's SPS-30 and SPS-43 radar antennas are installed and operational
(rotate) aboard HORNET. Her main engine throttle wheels and numerous other components are installed in the CVS-12 today. Approximately 30 port lights and 50 ready room chairs are also aboard. A large compartment on the gallery deck of HORNET has been de
inated as the CV-34 moemorial. In hangar bay 2 a large 5 ft diameter plaque of the ships patch commemorates the "Mighty O." No matter what happens in Texas the ORISKANY lives forever aboard the CVS-12.

enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1972 and today I found out his remains were identified on 04/01/98. His last mission was from the USS Oriskany and I wanted to look at the ship he catapulted off. I hope he knows he was never forgotten, thuo I did not know pe
sonally I carried him on my wrist and in my mind. Donald, rest in peace.

I went to high school in Port Orchard Wa. just across the water from Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and I used to gaze out the window of our school library at the Oriskany as she and several of her sisters lay quitely sleeping in mothballs in the mid 1980's.
always thought she should have been made into a museum on the Bremerton waterfront. wanted to go aboard to see her up close even after hearing stories from shipyard workers that claimed she was haunted. I joined the Coast Guard, moved away and was always
sad to see one less ship when ever I would return home on leave. Finally it was her turn and my dreams of a Pacific Northwest naval aviation museum were towed away to ports unknown. I just transfered to Port Arthur,Tx. in July and was quite amazed to see
he old girl sitting down here while I was on patrol. She is not as pretty as last I saw her but still impressive and proud. I am trying to find out if I can take a tour of her. I will try to get a photo the next time I pass by to post on this sight. Just
hought I'd pass on these memories and expieriences and a thank you to all who served aboard her. You are rememberd.

I was assigned to the 'Big O' right out of boot in March 69, I spent the my first 2 Westpac cruises in 1st division under BM1 MacVay. I ran the Bos'n locker and had over 200 hours at the helm, my favorite duty was catching those pallets of bombs during un
raps. In '71 I transfered to X division and worked in the Post Office under Chief Roger Salmon, I ran the flight deck mail crew, and often sold money orders on paydays. I was discharged in Aug 72 as a PC3, while the 'Big O' was in drydock in Japan. Please
e-mail me if you remember that bearded postal clerk (me) or know the whereabouts of Russell Runge, a shipmate who was also in X division in 71 & 72. Thanks Jim

I served on the "O" Boat from Jan. 65 to Nov. 68. Without a doubt the best tour of all my twenty-two years of Naval Service. There was just something about the Oriskany that is hard to explain. From the time I first set foot on board in San Diego until
I transferred off in dry dock at Hunters point, I seemed to know that I was in the company of fine and brave men. I feel that each and every other man aboard must have felt the same way. They just had to feel it like I did or we could not have accomplis
ed the things that we did. As I look through this outstanding site and several others devoted to the USS Oriskany my mind is flooded with memories. There are many sad memories but the good ones far out weigh those. I was sadden by the photos of that on
e proud ship striped bare and rusting, not at all the ending she deserved. To all of those shipmates I served with that visit here, I wish you FAIR WINDS AND FOLLOWING SEAS, AND TO THE MANY THAT GAVE THEIR ALL, REST IN PEACE.
