Christopher Wayne "Stickybuns" Shafer was born September 8, 1982 and spent the 18 years and 11 months of his life trying to help others. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia at the age of 15 after he fell down the stairs at Northwest Classen High School, in Oklahoma City, and did not recover from the back injuries. The Leukemia was discovered during x-rays. He donated most of his free time, when he was well, to his church youth group, missionary work, and The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Every year he participated in a walk-a-thon, called "The Light The Night Walk", in order to raise money for Leukemia. He went into remission when he was 16, until about two years later. He was in and out of the hospital a majority of the summer of 2001, until August 10, 2001... He passed away in his sleep. |

To Honor Chris' Memory, Go To: |
Words For Chris Written By Janettee Younger Christopher Wayne Shafer: My dear departed friend, what words could possibly mean you? A sunrise, purple and gold... A juicy passion fruit- passion for life, this you hold! You are beautiful, like a brand-new tennis shoe... Nike-the good kind, that's you. You are a drumbeat- fast and enthusiastic... Like Metallica's "Enter Sandman". You are like a clock, never stopping. Chris, you are an electric car, ingenuitive and fresh and free. You belong in the space age, so smart and so bold! You are the sound of a screeching guitar, your drumsticks beating wildly. You are a valley, beautiful and mysterious, with room enough in your heart for everyone. You are a crazy painting, all in psychedelic blue. You are outrageous. |
