- NARCOTICS IS THE BIGGEST PART OF TERROR
International terrorism and drugs trafficking are two intertwined problems which pose a threat for all humanity and democratic
values with regard to their consequences; such as the death of many people and material and spiritual damages.
Therefore, in struggling with terrorism and drugs trafficking, it cannot be expected from a country under their threat to struggle
and combat them alone, which are, having international nature, complex and organized crimes, and to attain a complete and
continuous success. For a permanent success in struggling against international terrorism and drugs trafficking, a genuine
cooperation and solidarity between democratic states which are under their threat is required.
Drugs and arm smuggling, which are two issues supporting each other, constitute the main financial sources of the terrorist
organizations around the world. The PKK, which continues its terrorist activities since 1984, also desperately needs a
continuous and great financial source.
During its initial organizational activities in European countries, the PKK directed its efforts to find financial sources. The PKK,
which initially took part in marketing of narcotics, then appeared in every stage of narcotics, from production to distribution.
The PKK, as it is stressed in the reports of INTERPOL and relevant countries security units in recent years, takes part from
production of narcotics to procurement and distribution of it, in a route extending from the Middle East to Europe, the USA,
the Southern America, and even to China and Australia.
Let us not forget that international terrorism and narcotics trafficking are the two disasters which pose a threat for the whole
humanity. The PKK, thanks to the financial support it obtained from narcotics selling, buys arms from international arm
smugglers, perpetrates its terrorism, and ruthlessly slaughters thousands of innocent people in Turkey.
Today, the tranquillity and security of Turkish citizens and the Turkish democracy is under threat. Tomorrow, nobody could
say that terrorism, combined with narcotics smuggling, would not cause a serious threat to the Western democracies. The tips
of this are already begun to be seen. We believe that the Public Opinion in European democracies, political circles having
common sense, and organizations of civil society combating with terrorism and narcotics will lend an ear to call.
