Ajax this week: In the weekend PSV gained their unofficial title, Ajax wrestled to stay in the race for Champions League football next season. A week before the important match against Feyenoord in Rotterdam, AZ was the guest in the Amsterdam Arena. The match was a disappointment, footballtechnically it had little to do with the soccer that Ajaxfans were used to. The first half was boring and the only real good playing Ajaxplayer was Jesper Gronkjaer. The AZ defense had much troubles with the accelarations of the Danish talent. Still like usual it was AZ who scored the first goal in the 44th minute. Bosman was near a few times and finally won the head-duel and passed Grim. Thanks to a huge fault of AZ-goalie Moens Ajax could equalize just before half time. Arveladze was paying attention and used the sudden chance in the 45th minute. Then in the 59th minute the game exploded. Witschge got his second yellow card and could leave. The Ajaxfans were outrageous and behaved badly cursing at the ref. He paused the match for 5 minutes but immediately after that Arveladze got a very good pass from Gronkjaer and scored his second in the 60th minute. The most beautiful goal was scored in the 72nd minute by Gronkjaer, passed 2 defenders and shot from about 25 metres with a lot of curve,3-1. Winter could even score 4-1 in the 90th minute. But it is flattered without a doubt. The last 5 matches will be 5 very heavy challenges for an Ajaxsquad that is mostly fighting against itself. Oh yes, after the cursing at the referee Kales was the target. Now that is more like it, forget the referee, and try to yell Kales away... Ajax next week:With Feyenoord awaiting Ajax next sunday, Ajax has to catch up a match first in and against Den Bosch. That will happen wednesday. Not only the major is afraid(of riots), but also the sqaud should also worry, Ajax will not be too much impressed by this team that is candidate for relegations. 80% chances of winning, even though it is an awaymatch. Note for Ajax this week: 6
Competition this week: Sunday PSV became unofficial champions. 12 points ahead with 4 matches left to go. Nothing can ruin the dream for PSV so it seems, next week against FC Twente 1 point will do for the Eindhoven squad. Like a true champion-to-be PSV played afraid at home against midget Cambuur L. A 1-0 final result was not a result that is very convincing, but the nerves are a good excuse. Feyenoord also had a lot of trouble away against de Graafschap. After a hard struggle Feyenoord took the 3 points home with them, Cruz scoring the only goal in the 62nd minute. FC Twente helped Vitesse to catch up with them, in Arnhem the final score was a clear 4-1 for Vitesse. Heerenveen kept on winning, 3-0 against Fortuna S and look strong to go for the second place in the league. With 4 matches left to go Heerenveen is 2nd with 30-60, then Ajax 29-56, and Vitesse, Feyenoord and FC Twente with 30-56 and all goalaverages almost the same, everything points to a very big climax. Next week after Feyenoord-Ajax a lot more will be clear. Note for competition this week: 8
Moment of the week: Moment of this week is a shamefull moment. Cause not only the referee was the target of the songs of Ajaxfans. But also Boussatta, the Maroccan player from AZ had it tough during the game. Now I can not understand that. Ajax, a team that had, has and will have so many foreign players, which seems tolerant to so much other cultures, how can it be that the fans can behave like such rascist pigs at times. There are other way of demotivating the opponent team, hurting a player by making fun of the colour of his skin or the culture he is from, that is not acceptable. I thought referee van Egmond was not strong in his approach to this problem. Cause the way he accepted it that Boussatta was victim of constant abuse was not worthy to a great club like Ajax Be ashamed of yourself F-side.Think first than sing, if you did that Kales would allready be gone, cause he would be the topic of every song that came down from the stands.
