HRH Princess Anne:
Princess Anne, The Princess Royal:
Born in 1950, Princess Anne is the second born child and only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. As a child, Anne enjoyed a relatively carefree chilhood before being sent to school at Benenden in Kent.Early on Princess Anne showed evidence of inheriting her mother's love of horses. In fact riding has consistently dominated Princess Anne's life. It has given her the chance to compete in many games. In fact she and Mark Phillips (her then husband) were selected to represent Britian as members of the equestrian team at the Olympic Games.
In the early 1970s, Anne meet Captain Mark Philips, who shared her absolute love of horses and competing. Thier mutual love of horses brought them together. Indeed, in 1971 Princess Anne came fifth in the Badminton Horse Trials; the winner was her future husband. Their engagement in May 1973 was followed by a November wedding at Westminister Abbey.
The wedding of Princess Anne and Captian Mark Phillips was followed in 1977 by the birth of their son, Peter Phillips (the first royal child for centuries to be born a commoner). In 1981, Anne and Mark were blessed again with another child Zara Phillips.
Although their love of horses and their children was great, problems arose that ultimatly lead to their divorce. Since her divorce Anne has remarried.
Like her brothers and parrents, her royal duties are a major part of her life. Princess Anne is the hardest-working member of the royal family (next to Diana) and carries out hundreds of official engagements each year. Some of Anne's most distiguished duties include her positions as Chancellor of London University and a tireless ambassador for Save the Children, for which she travels the world for its cause.
