Continued Ideals...Part 2

  1. Interdisciplinary activities in order to help the student to percieve the broader patterns of life.
  2. Emphasis on learning history and geography, as well as the language, culture, heritage, and traditions of Puerto Rico.
  3. The respect for and understanding of the multicultural and bilingual aspects of our Puerto Rican society.
  4. The school as a center for the reflection upon and integration of learning experiences, whatever their sources might be.
  5. Frequent participation in decision-making as a means of developing a sense of purpose as well as strengthening the bonds of the learning community.
  6. Preparing the students to act responsibly in a constantly changing and challenging world.
  7. Emphasis on learning through competition with oneself while placing peer competition in a healthy perspective.
  8. The teacher as a resource and an organizer and facilitator of students' learning.
  9. Service to the community within and outside the school.
  10. Emphasis on cooperation and teamwork among all community members, in order to learn from each other and improve as individuals and as a group.
