Although this is my second lamp - based on a Clematis Montana Rubens in our garden, there is a long list of firsts including:
Using Uroboros and Youghiogheny. I was told it would be terrible to cut but it was not that bad. My first lamp was an all Spectrum affair - a Black Eyed Susan - actually not that bad considering.
Using windows to choose glass, great idea.
Designing a lamp rather than using a commercial pattern. Designed on paper stuck to clingfilm. Removed it and cut along the lines. Photocopied the master and restuck three copies (three repeats) onto cling film and covered it with clear tape. The cling film was thus under a layer of tape and paper so had little problem with tack soldering on a Worden mould. The whole lot lifted off easily.
Using tacky wax and cling film (will use Blue Tack next time)
Using paste flux - never again, horrible stuff. Never ending volcano's all over the place. Now back to gel flux.
Photographing a lamp and with a digital camera for the first time
