Turn-ons: I adore chewing, particularly huge rawhide
bones, bits of wood, and when the people aren’t looking papers and the
legs of furniture. Evening walks are full of smells and I love to
follow Tommy’s lead around the farm perimeter with my nose to the ground.
Long naps in the sun or cuddled up by a cozy fire with Eamonn really make
me happy, too.
Turn-offs: I hate going to the vet -- particularly if I have to stay overnight! I don’t like strange dogs, prefer the company of other Bassets, but love to hug and kiss all humans. Moles and opossum really upset me -- those vermin! Loud talking or arguing makes me feel nervous, and I hate insects and big trucks. Favorite Website: http://www.castlenet.com/debhatt/bstlinks.htm.
History: I was selected from a litter of hounds with noble ancestry born at Longhorn Kennels in Woodstock, Georgia. The kennels were found through our friends Charlotte & Dick Engstrom of Atlanta, who had a lady Basset named Fred from there for many years. Lynn said she’d like to find a sensational puppy to be friends with Tommy. Reaching Kelly McCoy Davis (the Longhorn Kennel lady), Lynn learned that there was to be a litter just in time for Christmas. Kelly went on to say that a special Champagne Litter was already two months old and that there was a male not to be missed. We were all going to meet at the Vet’s office, but my brother Christophe von Basset ran into Lynn’s arms first. I couldn’t believe he upstaged me, but I was right behind. We both started to talk to and kiss Lynn. She asked Kelly if we could both go home with her. Christophe will tell you the story from his point of view later, but I was so happy to find my new home and to meet Eamonn & Lynn that I fell asleep in Eamonn’s arms that first night with them. Christophe and I got to grow up together and with Tommy, who is a distant cousin of ours (also Royalty). |
