"Exercise", 6/89

Love those routine workouts on the mat;
or aerobic movements like that of a bat.
The important thing here, is to sweat;
enough so that you remain quite wet.

Got to work to reduce the size of my waist.
Is that cake I see? Let me have a taste!
No! I forbid it; you musn't cheat;
eat the wrong food and you're beat!

I really want to diet, but keeping it is no fun;
with my sweet tooth, I'd rather have a hot cross bun.
Forget the bun, and do your sit-ups now;
afterwards I can break for some chow.

You can eat the wrong foods, only for so long;
while you're young and your stomach is strong.
So whenever your urge for something sweet grows stronger;
think of this poem, exercise, and you'll live longer.
