PHILIP ISLAND
continued
Forest Remnant
Rock cliff
overlooking the sea, a bird habitat.
Whale Bird (Sterna fuscata) eggs, an Island delicacy but
strict guidelines are set on when these can be harvested so that the
species does not become endangered.
One of the last of the Philip Island rabbits
The rabbit numbers were so great
that no young plants could survive. Since their eradication there has
been a renewed greening of the island but weed species may need to be
kept under control. Note that the rabbit is not the usual feral
rabbit of Australia.
PS: I'm just going to have to find that photo of the giant centipede!!
