A Word About
the Author

I am a 20 year old college Junior from Maryland who has a passion for art and also the World Wide Web. I concieved The Galleria as a site to bring the art that I loved to other people and also to raise awareness of lesser known American artists.

I am not only a lover of other people's works, but also an artist myself. Throughout my lifetime I have studied art, even into college where I will recieve a degree in Studio Art along with a degree in Communications.

The best way to see many of these paintings that I feature is to see them in person--nothing beats that expierience. My tavels in the world has luckily allowed my to view some of these paintings in galleries, but since we all can't visit these galleries, I've tried to bring these artists together and create the effect of seeing them up close.

May 22, 1999:

I am back from London after living there for three and a half months. I was very lucky to have seen many great works of art courtesy of my Modern European Art class and my various travels to other countries. A few of the shows I saw include: The Ingres exhibit at the National Gallery, Monet in the Twentieth Century and the Kandinsky exhibit at the Royal Academy, the Jackson Pollock show at the Tate. I also saw the works of Klimt in Vienna and those of Mucha at the Mucha Museum in Prague. The galleries I visited included The Estorick Collection, The Tate, The National Gallery (all in London), the Musee d'Orsay in Paris, and the Belvedere and Historical Art Museum in Vienna. Today I went to Washington D.C and saw the John Singer Sargent show at the National Gallery of Art. It has been a whirlwind of art and genres over the past months, but it definitely has been worth it. Since I am back in the country this allows me time to work on The Galleria, so keep a look out for changes this summer.

January 25, 1999:

I am going to London in a little less than two weeks and I will be there for three months. While there I will go on a few art pilgrimages (ie: Tate Gallery, National Gallery, and perhaps even some in continental Europe) and hope to further my knowledge of art. Since I will be gone for such an extensive period of time, there wont be many changes happening to the The Galleria until I get back. In the meantime, you can enjoy some additions I made to the East Wing with the art of Charles Dana Gibson.

December 7, 1998:

I hope to have The Galleria completely redone by the end of this year. I also hope that some of the changes have been helpful, especially the site map, and I appreciate all feedback.

October 6, 1998:

The Galleria has recently undergone a new look and I hope you all like the changes. I have taken all of your comments to heart and hope to tackle some of the loading time problems that some of you have pointed out. Your comments are always welcomed.
