Hi,
Great taste! Do you like Sargent's "Miss Priestley"?
I just acquired a 19th or early 20th c. landscape by a painter named Philippe Fontaine.
Do you have a way to find out who this guy
was?
Any advice?
Thanks,
David

Thanks for pointing me to some of the great artists in America.

Loved it. Took very long to download however. My slow modem didn't help matters. But worth the wait. Aside from Sargent I was unfamiliar with the painters. The Lady of Shalott is stunning and I'm blown away by the pics of Benson's daughters. Absolutely be
tiful. If I might offer one point of constructive criticism: the black background is a bit too strong. I think you're trying to highlight the subtlety of the work for lack of traditional frames. Still I would say that a light shade of grey, close to an of
white, would be more peaceful on the eye. Just a thought. Otherwise, please keep up the good work. Presenting such wonderful art on the web with your personal relationship with that art is a very good thing. I'm glad to have found your sight and will ret
rn.

You have put together a lovely, compelling site, and that's not just because you highlight some of my favorite art, including Madame X (I used to go to the Gardner Museum during my college years and look at it a lot) and The Lady of Shalott. You are doin
excellent work and I applaud you!!!

This is absolutely gorgeous. I stole your scan of her, by the way. :) I have been looking for a good scan of the Lady, and instead I find a whole Gallery of art... so I bookmarked you. :) Be sure I will be back.

Great site. You were right though, it takes a hell of a long time to download.
I am looking for a full picture of the above painting, one that shows the full garden scene. Do you know where I can find one??
Regards, Mike.

famous artists,impressionists, learned about in
school, as well as modern times . She got to
meet Gary Burghoff in person, ever since then...

Your art page must reflect your beauty. Only a beautiful person inside and out could possibly love art this much. It alwways fascinated how a person is reflected by the art they enjoy. Looking at what you enjoy, I am guessing that you are a beautiful coll
ge student. A girl trapped in a desirable womans body. You seem to like portraits of beautiful women. I am guessing that you yourself enjoy admiring beautiful woman. The type of person who could sit in a beautiful London park for hours on end admiring th
beauty in the exquisite femine bodies. You must be a rose, waiting for the world to bloom around you before you expose your beauty.

I recently purchased an oil painting, obviously old, at an auction. It contains a vase with flowers, maybe dahlias. Beside of the vase, there is a tray with a white buddah and gold tray with a couple of little containers of some sort. Also, some orname
ted trees on the tray. The artist name is faded, but looks like J Henry Elbry. This is a guess, as it is very hard to read. I'm searching for the artist, but having no luck. My mom is sure that she has seen the painting before, so I was thinking it mi
ht be a replica. Any ideas where to go??? Thanks, I enjoyed strolling through your site.

I loved all the pictures you chose, especially the Dewing ones.
Since you're an artist yourself, how about displaying your own works?
And an in-depth analysis of some paintings would give us all some insight into art...
