Alright. Let me explain.<br>
When we look at something, the image our right eye records differs slightly
from the image our left eye records: Objects in the foreground appear to be
in a slightly different position, relative to objects in the background.
When the two images are transmitted to our brain, clever software in the brain
combines the two images into one, three-dimensional representation of the
scene we are looking at.<br>
Suppose we take a camera, with two lenses set side by side about seven or
eight centimeters apart (three inches, for persons of the
non-metric persuasion). When we push the button, we get two pictures of one
scene, from a slightly different perspective.

Imagine what happens if we place the picture taken with the right lens in
front of our right eye, and the other picture in front of the other eye.<br>
Right. The Image Evaluation Software in our brain kicks in and creates a 3-D
image.<br>
This idea is as old as photography: Over 150 years. Stereophotographica are
the paraphernalia of stereophotography: <a href="cameras.html">cameras</a>,
<a href="viewers.html">viewers</a> or <a href="viewers.html">stereoscopes</a>
, <a href="sterfoto.html">photographs</a>. Bert collects this stuff.
