Below are pictures from the making of the 4th piece from the series created for my solo undergrad show.



The three-toed sloth, a long-time favorite of mine. :)


This was the first sketch for this piece.


The (still wet) base for the chalice w/ its measured sketch in the background.


At this point, the sloth faces had just been attached to the bowl.


Here are the sloth hands while they were waiting to dry.


In this picture, the entire piece has been glazed and is ready for its final firing. I was almost sad to do the firing because I thought the colors looked really good like that.


Here's a close-up of the faces with the pre-fired glaze.


This was the bowl moments before it was finally glued onto its base.


Painter's tape had to hold the bowl in place while the glue set up. That particular glue had to set up for 48 nerve-wracking hours.


I briefly considered gluing the hands on like this, but decided to stick with my original plan.
