Zeus, King of the Gods
Zeus was the son of the Titans Cronus and
Rhea, king and queen of the universe. Cronus and Rhea had six
children, who would become the first Olympians. An oracle had
told Cronus that one of his children would grow to over throw
him, as he had done his own father, so Cronus swallowed his first
five children. When the sixth child was born Rhea could not bear
to have him eaten, so she gave Cronus a rock wrapped in a blanket
to swallow. This child that survived was Zeus, and as the oracle
had prophesized, when he grew up with the help of Mother Earth he
made Cronus give back the children he had swallowed. With their
help Zeus won the war for power over earth and became the King of
the Gods.
Zeus ruled the Heavens and was the only omnipotent God, he let
his brother Poseidon rule the Sea and his brother Hades ruled the
Underworld.
