Morpheus and Iris
Iris, Goddess of the Rainbow

Iris was the personification of the rainbow and messenger to the gods. Some believe she was the messenger of the Gods because the rainbow touched both the earth and heaven. Homer says she served Zeus most faithfully. later writers said she served Hera above all the other gods, even sleeping under her throne.

Iris was the daughter of the titan Thaumas and the nymph Electra, and sister to the Harpies. She is usually descibed as a beautiful maiden with wings, often carrying a herald's staff and a cask of water.

Iris plays prominently in the Iliad, serving as a messenger to Zeus, and carrying messages from Thetis and Priam. When Aphrodite was wounded at Troy, it was Iris who helped her into Ares's chariot and drove her to safety on Mt. Olympus.
