The extortion consists of a gentle plea that you arrange to type in or scan an equivalent amount of Dylan data--to the extent that you are able--not presently available on the Internet.
The only reason there is anything for you to receive now is because others have contributed in the past.
Some of you may know that EDLIS is a anarchic organisation, made up of agents with various responsibilities, each in a cell, so no one knows all the agents, no one has control, and contacts are made on a "need to know" basis and often no work whatsoever is accomplished.
Much information flows to EDLIS because of this system, anyone can send e-mail with confidence that their provision of interesting information does not jeopardize their job, their commitments to a publisher, their contacts with Minnesota pop stars, their future court appearances, or the respect their mother has for their integrity.
