Welcome to the wonderful world of competitive swimming with Surfside Swim Team! Surfside Swim Team is a non-profit organization, providing a competitive swimming environment for youth since 1969. Our organization is run exclusively by parent volunteers who dedicate the time and effort necessary to provide our swimmers with the opportunity to become the best swimmers they can be.

We believe competitive swimming offers a wealth of experiences essential to any child's personal growth, including friendship, discipline, independence, goal setting, skills building, and coping with victory and defeat.

Surfside is based in the South Bay area of Los Angeles County in Southern California. Our team practices at the Mira Costa High School and Redondo Union High School aquatics facilities. Our swimmers start as young as four years old and continue with our program through high school. Lap swimming is also available to parents of current team swimmers during regular team practice hours.

Surfside belongs to USA Swimming (USAS) and the Southern California Aquatic Association (SCAA). Our local swim committee (or LSC) within USAS is Southern California Swimming (SCS). These organizations provide our swimmers with a wide range of competitive swimming experiences. SCAA sponsors dual meets and season championships on a smaller scale than most USAS meets, giving swimmers the competitive experience without overwhelming them. USAS is the national organization that covers all aspects of swimming in the United States from beginning age group swimmers through Olympic and Master level programs.

Parents are encouraged to participate in Surfside Swim Team to ensure the success of their children's experience. Volunteers are needed to organize dual meets, run the snack bar at home meets, record meet results, and fill a variety of positions at Surfside.

Surfside Swim Team Boosters, Inc., conducts the business side of Surfside Swim Team. The organization is headed by a volunteer board of directors consisting of five elected officers and a varying number of advisors and appointees. These individuals process member registrations and monthly dues, plan special team activities, organize fund-raisers, conduct training sessions, and maintain open communication with team swimmers and their families.
