Michael Jordan

Why would I want to write about Michael Jordan?

I'm not his no. 1 fan, I'm not as insane as some of his fans, but I do like to watch him play. On the court, he is what grace and imagination means.
Basketball is my most favourite sport, and to be like Mike is, I think, the limit to what one can achieve in this sport. Watching him dunk, witnessing his seemingly effortless way of coming back to win a game and all his other increadible moves is just so uplifting. Joy seems to leap out instead of flowing. Sometimes he makes me feel that he's the closest thing to God I've ever seen. As Larry Bird puts it, "I think it's only God disguised as Michael Jordan," after Michael scored 63 points against Boston in the 1986 playoffs (it's a playoff record).
I guess there aren't many people who doesn't know enough about Michael and his career, so I'm not going to list all the major events in his career. I will, however, try to make a brief comment on each and every Bulls game. I hope I'll get some response from you guys and probably you'll come back every time there's a Bulls game.

The high-flying dunks of His Airness

1997 NBA Playoff 1st Round Bulls 3 Bullets 0

Game 1 Chicago 98 Washington 86

A typical game for the Bulls as they win again. Jordan scored 29 points, again, a typical night for Michael. However, I feel that the Bulls have not been playing their best recently. The two straight losses at the end of the regular season is an indication of their vulnerability. I'm worried about their chances of winning another championship. Again, the defense was the key for the Bulls' win.

Game 2 Chicago 109 Washington 104

This is His Airness' statement. 55 points. This unbelievable feat is precious nowadays, simply beacuse he's no longer the indomitable Bull he once was. As reluctant as I may be, I have to admit that Michael is getting old. I do hope that he'll have at least another championship ring. He deserves it so much. Anyway, "We were so frustrated that we were covering him with three defenders and we still weren't able to do anything with him," Webber said. I like this kind of statement from an opposing player :). In his interview in NBA.com Juwan Howard thinks that Michael is the greatest basketball player ever ( I agree! ) and admits that he's never seen someone did what Jordan did in that game. However, Bulls still looks vulnerable. Only Michael is contributing significantly.

Game 3 Chicago 96 Washington 95

Now this is not healthy. Its a poor performance from the Bulls again. Jordan scored 28 points. The bench is not doing enough. Pippen and Rodman ( they shouldn't have renewed his contract )is not doing enough either. Lets hope they get better. If not, they're in big trouble.

Eastern Conference Seminfinal Bulls 3 Hawks 1

Game 1 Chicago 100 Atalnta 97

The Bulls' underpar performance continue. They won the game only because they had the best ever player on their team, and they needed a 3-pointer by Scottie with 47 seconds remaining to finally put away the Hawks. Dennis Rodman is ejected again. He brings more damage than good to the Bulls. Mookie Blaylock claimed he was fouled by Jordan near the end of the game. Well, you can't argue with the refs, can you??

Anyway, bulls won the championship once again. Now, lets cheer them on to their sixth title!
