A beautiful day and a
wonderful ride was a fitting tribute to Larry Schneider,
CD of Chapter G in Grand Rapids as fourteen of us made
our way from Chapter J to the funeral home. We were sad
to learn of Larry's passing on Friday, July 23, but proud
to represent Chapter J as we visited with Marty and the
rest of the family and friends who knew Larry so well. We
left Jackson Crossing along with Mel/Mary Swetland, Louie
Schippers and Derry Sims on Sunday evening. We caught up
with Ron/Dianna Miller, JJ/Lee Jacobs and Mike
Stiger/Lori Mays along Route 127 past Leslie a short ways
and Dave/Carol Boyers on Route 57 as we traveled toward
Carson City. Lyle Wollet, Chapter J CD, was able to
attend the funeral on Tuesday. He said there was a
fabulous turnout of bikes for the procession. Larry was
certainly well-loved by all who knew him...... (A Fitting Tribute continued...)
A note from Jerry Richards, Region D
Director -
ATTENTION EVERYONE:
As we all know the bike
show at Wing Ding is for the best of the best. If you
weren't there you really missed some beautiful bikes. I'm
sure glad I was not a judge. Indiana Chapter
"D" has something to be very proud of. Out of 3
members showing their Wings at Wing Ding, 2 placed. Larry
Slater placed 3rd with his GL 1200 stock and Gary Blanton
placed 3rd with his GL 1100 stock.
Congratulations go to Tom & Charlotte Weiker. They are the new C.D.s of Chapter {S} of Ohio. Tom and Charlotte became CD's of Chapter S on July 1. Their first meeting will be on Sat. July 31 in Fremont at the VFW post.
E-Wing News has a new
addition! Please join us in welcoming Wayne Stewart,
E-Wing News Rider Enrichment Coordinator. Wayne has been
riding motorcycles for about 26 years. He has been riding
a Gold Wing for the last 5 years and has been a GWRRA
member as long as he has owned a Wing. He spent almost 3
years as a Chapter Educator. He rides year round (weather
permitting) and puts about 9,000 miles a year riding back
and forth to work. Being strong supporters of motorcycle
safety, we felt that with Wayne's knowledge and devotion
to Rider Education, he will make an excellent addition to
E-Wing News.
Why do we stop often when
we are out and about on our motorcycles? Could it
be because of those uncomfortable seats that most of us
have? No, I don't think that is it. Could it
be because of the size of our fuel tanks and gas
mileage? No, I don't think that is it either. Am I
a player? Maybe it is because riding makes us hungry and
we need to nourish our bodies often? No, that isn't
what I am thinking about either. How about the
facts that we need to quench our thirst that has
developed over the last hour or so. Now this is
more in tune to what I am thinking about......... (Rider Enrichment continued...)

It was a combination bike show and car show. There were some nice looking cars and sharp looking motorcycles. The weather was absolutely beautiful. There were cars that showed up and motorcycles, ........ We would like to put a follow-up article
