There's the turbo. It's a tight fit... REALLY tight!
Here's the clearance between the turbo output elbow and the framerail..(almost none, good thing it's nitrile, not aluminum!)
Here's the clearance between the turbine housing and the framerail. Now that's close!
Here's the clearance between the steering boot and crossover pipe... Actually none. It rubs. But the insulating tape has kept the rubber boot from melting.... so far...
The top of the turbo and the bottom of the intake manifold were both ground down with a dremel tool to get them to fit closer together.
The back of the downpipe is very close (1/8)inch to the firewall. All the measuring for the turbo mount was done with a tape measure and guesstimation. I'd say I lucked out fabricating the turbo mount!!
. .
The insulated pipe is the crossover pipe that goes from the exhaust manifold to the turbo.
The pipe on the left is my 2 1/4 inch downpipe that crosses under the transmission, back to the (left) driver's side.
I have to have the catalytic converter to be legal.
This is a 2 1/2 inch super-turbo style muffler. The car is VERY quiet, adding to the 'sleeper' effect :)
Now, Where was it that I put that turbo again?? I can't find it at all from up here!
